One Nation Under Apathy: The Devaluing of Human Life

baby sonogram momWilliam Wilberforce once said, “You may choose to look the other way but you can never say again that you did not know.” Please don’t look away.

A life is eliminated every 28 seconds and since 1973, Americans have – by our silence – given the abortion industry our stamp of approval along with our tax dollars. The result is over 1.2 million abortions in the United States every year.

Americans have become so busy, comfortable, self-focused, and desensitized that human life has been devalued right under our collective noses.

But let’s start with some good news: Texas Judge Diane Bull quickly dismissed one of the two misdemeanors cooked up against David Daleiden by Harris County DA, Devon Anderson. Caught colluding with the abortion group that helped get her elected, Anderson had hoped to distract from the evidence that Planned Parenthood was trafficking in the sale of baby body parts.

This was nothing but a “politically-motivated sham,” the Center for Medical Progress told reporters.

“The dismissal of the first indictment today sends a strong message to Planned Parenthood and their political cronies that colluding to suppress the First Amendment right of citizen journalists will never work.”

Next, a new, deceptively marketed (as the ultimate chick-flick) Hollywood film, Me Before You, aspires to be sweetly romantic, but (movie spoiler alert!) ends up being a vulgar, maddening, frustrating movie that endorses euthanasia. Strong advocate for life, quadriplegic Joni Erickson Tada stated:

“This whole push to legalize assisted suicide across the United States is actually a push to radicalize individual rights and… take the moral component out of rights… People who are weak and infirm have never fared well in societies that have lost their moral center… Because we live in such an entitlement society, we already see no virtue in suffering.”

In Utah, high school students are being taught that aborting preborn children with Down Syndrome is the only option and the right thing to do. What did the ACLU and Planned Parenthood say about this? “You can’t discriminate against a fetus.”

The word “fetus” actually derives from a Latin word meaning “offspring,” or “little one” in the sense of being “newly delivered.”

So, what then if the “fetus” is black?

Contrary to the socialist, leftist-funded Black Lives Matter movement, the ironic and sobering truth is black lives don’t really matter, nor do white or Asian or Hispanic lives – unless they are adult liberal elites. More black babies are aborted than born in New York City, and 82% of all abortions are on black or Hispanic (minority) babies.

Was it a coincidence the very first “birth control” clinic Planned Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger opened was in Harlem, NY? Other states such as Mississippi have bought the lie, and about 72% of black babies are aborted there.

Laws exist protecting many species of wild animals – including turtle eggs, but what does it tell you when people get more upset about endangering or killing an animal (a gorilla, perhaps) than a life God created in a Mother’s womb?

Producer of the new Gosnell movie, Ann McElhinney recently commented on the amount of attention given to the story of Harambe, a gorilla killed at the Cincinnati Zoo:

“The media coverage and the comments from the public mourning the death of the gorilla seemed to me to be excessive, the 4 year old boy’s life was not considered paramount. It made us question the comparative lack of public outrage or outpouring of sympathy and compassion in the US where 9 month old babies can be aborted legally and the public is silent. There is no debate about that at all…”

Few remember the media boycott of the biggest and most callous serial killer in U.S. history, Kermit Gosnell. The murder trial of the Philadelphia abortionist cemented forever the fact the pro-choice media has chosen ideology and politics over truth and journalism. Here are a few facts to refresh your memory:

    • The remains of 45 babies were found by authorities at the Philly clinic.
    • Gosnell preyed mostly on poor and minority women.
    • Flea-ridden cats defecated freely, including in procedure rooms.
    • One 41 year-old victim of a botched abortion, Karnamaya Mongar died because the clinic was so crammed with junk, it took paramedics 20 minutes just to find their way out.
    • Gosnell collected baby feet in jars.

To you and me this is horrific. To Gosnell and abortion defenders, he was just doing his job, ‘helping’ women, even underage girls, dispose of the human life within them at any stage of development.

It is interesting doctors now give babies in the womb pain medication during surgical procedures due to medical research proving unborn babies feel pain. Moreover, if a person kills a pregnant woman they will be convicted of double homicide.

But Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz insists there be no limits on when a mother can end the life of her unborn baby, and Planned Parenthood President, Cecil Richards said her kid’s lives “began when I delivered them.”

Gosnell and Planned Parenthood simply follow the agenda set by staunch feminist, Margaret Sanger who stated:

“It is a vicious cycle; ignorance breeds poverty and poverty breeds ignorance. There is only one cure for both, and that is to stop breeding these things. Stop bringing to birth children whose inheritance cannot be one of health or intelligence. Stop bringing into the world children whose parents cannot provide for them. Herein lies the key of civilization.”

Sanger found her calling…to destroy biblical morality by promoting uninhibited sexual promiscuity” and her racist eugenics foreshadowed Planned Parenthood as a “minority-killing machine, relentlessly aborting minority children.”

She “is in large part responsible for the deaths of millions of unborn babies, the normalization of premarital sex, the creation of generations of unwed moms who spend much of their lives on welfare, and the rampant spread of venereal diseases.”

Most everyone would consider Adolf Hitler pure evil, and yet few people know he was encouraged by the eugenics movement in America in the 1920’s thanks to Margaret Sanger. The following is from a chapter in my book, Blotting Out God in America:

“Eugenics is the study of or belief in the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a population, especially by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics) OR, encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics). Hold on to your coffee while we connect some dots.

In her 1922 book The Pivot of Civilization, Margaret Sanger wrote:

“Constructive Eugenics aims to arouse the enthusiasm or the interest of the people in the welfare of the world fifteen or twenty generations in the future. On its negative side it shows us that we are paying for and even submitting to the dictates of an ever increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all…”

What Adolf Hitler did to millions of Jews through eugenics and sterilization, Margaret Sanger has dwarfed by pioneering a movement causing the abortion of over one hundred million babies in the United States alone. Planned Parenthood’s founder promoted a eugenic ideology that eventually led to the gas chambers in Germany. A truth seeking, fair-minded person cannot read Sanger’s writings without seeing her influence in America and the world.”

the-birth-control-reviewSanger’s publication, The Birth Control Review, was founded in 1917 and through the years, she often published articles from eugenicists such as Ernst Rudin.

“Ernst Rudin (1874-1952) was a psychiatrist who worked as Adolf Hitler’s director of genetic sterilization and founded the Nazi Society for Racial Hygiene, which was Germany’s racial purity program.

But what most people fail to realize is it was the United States that led the forced sterilization movement which began on the mentally ill and on prisoners. Between 1907 and 1939, more than 30,000 people in twenty-nine states were sterilized, many of them unknowingly or against their will, while they were incarcerated in American prisons or mental institutions. Nearly half the operations were carried out in California.

In 1932, Margaret Sanger published “A Plan for Peace” in the April issue of her Birth Control Review, which included the following as part of her agenda:

  • To give certain dysgenic groups in our population their choice of segregation or sterilization.
  • To apportion farm lands and homesteads for these segregated persons where they would be taught to work under competent instructors for their entire lives.
  • The first step would thus be to control the intake and output of morons, mental defectives, epileptics.
  • The second step would be to take an inventory of the secondary group such as illiterates, paupers, unemployables, criminals, prostitutes, dope fiends; classify them in special departments under government medical protection, and segregate them on farms and open spaces as long as necessary…

Ernst Rudin’s article, “Eugenic Sterilization: An Urgent Need,” was also published in 1932 in Sanger’s Birth Control Review journal. The following year, Rudin drafted the Nazi Sterilization Law in Germany which originally called for the sterilization of “schizophrenics,” “alcoholics,” and “manic-depressives” – the subjects of Rudin’s research. As these legal sterilizations began, programs were already underway to sterilize “black” Germans and expanded to include Jews, Gypsies and, in the words of Rudin, other “inferior race types.”

This warped worldview led to the establishment of a killing program that began at several of Germany’s psychiatric hospitals.

“After World War II had concluded, the horrors of eugenics and Nazi atrocities – including the use of concentration camps, human experimentation, and gas chambers – were exposed. Sanger acted deceptively and quickly to attempt to distance herself and her Birth Control League from the Third Reich’s “Final Solution.” Her idea to change the name of the organization was a shrewd one, desiring no trace of her close Nazi associations. Until that time, the birth control and the eugenics movements were nearly impossible to separate…

“At the Nuremberg Trials in 1945, Allied prosecutors recited the appalling account of Nazi crimes, including the practice of forced sterilization. One of the excuses given by the German Socialists who defended their drastic population control measures was that they were inspired by the progress of the birth control movement in the United States, which was not a lie. By 1956, abortion became legal in eleven more European nations, and within another few years, UN Agencies would begin to subsidize Planned Parenthood programs in many other countries.” (end excerpt)

Today, there are wealthy elites in America promoting population control, serving and worshiping creation rather than the Creator (Romans 1:25). After all, the primary thinking behind environmentalism is humans are the problem, we’re destroying the planet, and nature must be preserved at all costs.

Knowing the 6th Commandment, “Thou Shalt Not Murder,” where do you think God stands on the issue?

baby sonogramFor you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful…. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.  – Psalm 139:13-16

Just four states had legalized abortion back in 1973, while forty-six states restricted abortion, but the Supreme Court applied an unwanted law to the entire country. Roe vs Wade was one of the greatest acts of terrorism in our history.

So much has changed since then including medical advances and technology, but for some reason the landmark decision remains. Abortion is a selfish, violent way to destroy an unwanted life and has caused millions of women deep anguish, pain, and regret. Thankfully, there is forgiveness for us all through Jesus Christ, but much damage has been done.

How can we, particularly Christians, stay silent? Planned Parenthood should be outlawed, not just defunded, but we have continued to tolerate the barbaric practices of big abortion business.

Hidden camera stings have revealed their agenda and deceit, and after being caught concealing prostitution rings, statutory rape violations, and the marketing of baby, I mean, “fetus” body parts, Planned Parenthood sued those who exposed them rather than demand internal investigations to clean up the massive corruption!

The church – and then the country – must get back to the biblical values of modesty, purity, and respect among adults and children alike; promoting abstinence education to counteract our sexually charged culture. We have allowed sexual confusion, experimentation, and promiscuity to be encouraged while condoms are handed out at public schools and deviant sex is taught to the youngest children possible.

The bottom line is if abortion really does kill a baby, then we are accommodating the greatest human genocide in the history of humanity. How can God not judge a nation and a people that has openly rebelled against Him?

Soften our hearts, Oh, God! Break through our complacency and give us compassion for life and for the lost. May Your people cry out to You as if this fight for every single life matters. Wake up the Church and give us the conscience and courage to stand for truth in the name of Jesus.
