Puppets for Godless Climate Change Agenda

Greta Thunberg was the answer to one of the clues on Jeopardy last night. Up to this point, I’ve tried ignoring the teenage climate activist from Sweden – but Jeopardy? She has arrived!

To her credit, it appears young Greta really cares about the planet, and is most likely sincere in her beliefs – fed to her by her parents. But some would say it’s wrong for adults to exploit children to promote their progressive agenda. And make no mistake: this is about money and political power.

Are we really in the midst of an ecological crisis, an environmental emergency, a climate catastrophe that could bring an end to people groups and the world? That’s what they’re selling. The next logical step then, is population control. Are pesky human beings destroying Gaia, the so-called ancestral mother of all life?

That’s right, confess your sins to Mother Earth. We’ve transgressed against nature. Progressive activism and ideology has practically succeeded in turning climate science and environmentalism into a religion. Or perhaps more accurately, a cult.

So, is Greta Thunberg right or is she being used as a pawn? Something in-between?

At first, I thought I was reading the Babylon Bee when I heard Greta was actually nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. She’s even given a Ted talk! Democrat presidential candidates love her and have endorsed her climate doctrine. She met Barrack Obama!

As the new poster girl for man-caused climate change, Thunberg apparently founded the ‘Youth Strike for Climate’ movement. Basically it’s about getting publicity, and the way they do it is, ready? Students skip school every Friday to urge governments to do more about climate change.

But does the Bible have anything to say about God and His sovereignty where the earth and weather are concerned? Lots, actually. Old Testament writers, for example, often refer to God using the weather to destroy the wicked. Isaiah 29:6 states:

“In an instant, I, the Lord of Hosts, will come upon them with thunder, earthquake, whirlwind, and fire.”

Job 37:10-12 also states:

“By the breath of God, ice is given,
And the broad waters are frozen.
Also with moisture He saturates the thick clouds;
…And they swirl about, being turned by His guidance,
That they may do whatever He commands them
On the face of the whole earth.”

Look at verse 13:

“He sends the storms as punishment or, in his loving-kindness, to encourage.”

And what about Jesus who created and sustains all things? During a storm on the sea of Galilee,

“And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?” Luke 8:24-25

Am I suggesting mankind has absolutely no impact on the planet? No. Am I saying it’s impossible for humans to harm or improve the earth? Nope. But we need to look to God as the source of truth, keep these things in perspective, do what we can responsibly, and stop obsessing over what we cannot control.

For Greta’s ongoing school strikes (skipping school), the climate activist was rewarded by being flown to France’s Normandy region back in July to attend a ceremony with an American Vet and D-Day survivor, Charles Norman Shay. Greta received the Freedom Award for her activism, and she urged people to recognize the link between climate and ecological emergency, famine, and war.

Well, Jesus did say in the end times there would be wars and rumors of wars.

Oh, but it’s a silent climate war, they say, and we’ll soon see billions of people displaced as certain areas of the world become uninhabitable. Fear mongering, anyone?

A hundred years ago, these words spewing out of anyone’s mouth would have been considered ignorance and nonsense. But this is 2019. This is a time in which there is no God and Creator that still controls the universe; a time when moral relativism reigns.

Writing at the Institute for Faith & Freedom earlier this year, Mark Hendrickson warned that it’s not just Thunberg who has been indoctrinated with climate alarmism. American kids in public schools have been programmed as well! Fears and theories of global warming and climate catastrophe have been pounded into the minds of our children for decades.

According to Hendrickson;

The National Environmental Education Act of 1990 mandated that our public schools’ environmental curriculum be cleared through the Office for Environmental Education at the EPA. …There is even a famous recording of Al Gore telling children a decade ago to pay attention to what their schools teach them about climate change, because schools have the latest “scientific” information – and their parents don’t.

In a new editorial of teenage wisdom, Greta Thunberg points to other causes of the current climate emergency including men in positions of authority oppressing women. No wonder feminists love her.

Greta suggests the so-called climate crisis is “not just about environment,” but is one of human rights, justice, and also “colonial, racist, patriarchal systems of oppression;” She also admitted it’s about who has the political will to push the agenda. Her and two other gifted activists added:

“We did this not because it was our dream, but because we didn’t see anyone else taking action to secure our future.”

Want a secure future? The Apostle John wrote that those of us who believe in the name of Jesus have assurance of eternal life with God. (1 John 5:13) Mother Earth makes no such promises.

Sounding eerily similar to Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, who declared the world would end in 12 years unless we address this climate crisis, Thunberg gave her infamous, dramatic speech at the United Nations in September and cried out,

“…you all come to us young people for hope, how dare you. You have stolen my dreams and my childhood… Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction…”

Okay, let’s stop right here. This is a great time to be reminded our only true hope in a world of false hopes and kid’s dreams – is in the living God who loved us enough to send His only Son, Jesus Christ to be the sinless sacrifice to seek and save forever those who are lost.

We don’t know what the future holds, but we can trust the only God who does know, and who holds the future.

The prophet Daniel said:

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
For wisdom and power are His.
And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.” Daniel 2:20-21

Lord knows people today need wisdom and understanding! God bless you and keep speaking the truth about things that matter.
