Canceling Christianity in the U.S., Not Jesus Christ! Interview Q&A

The following is an edited transcript from several interviews with author, David Fiorazo about his best-selling latest book, Canceling Christianity: How The Left Silences Churches, Dismantles The Constitution, And Divides Our Culture.

  • What led to your decision to write Canceling Christianity?

DAVID FIORAZO (DF): I want to believe it was God. The Holy Spirit. The spirit of a watchman sensing the need to sound the alarm to the church in America and warn as many as possible. A culture observer and concerned American citizen seeing clear evidence that the country has been compromised; hijacked may be a better word, by the Left. Seeing things I never thought would happen in my lifetime and yet are very prophetic. I often refer to the “2020 Tipping point” where three crises converged.

  • In the first 10 days of your book being on Amazon, it was a #1 release in ‘Religious Intolerance & Persecution.’ This was before your publisher issued a press release or began marketing. Why was this?

(DF): I think it’s the timeliness, relevant title, and subject matter of the book for one; many of us are concerned about censorship, discrimination, and persecution; the remnant of true believers are concerned about attacks on Truth. But the simple answer is the body of Christ! People have been incredibly supportive.

  • What was the reasoning for calling out the Left in the book subtitle?

(DF): You’re going to laugh. First, it’s the truth. The left is trying to silence Christians and conservatives, they are dismantling the Constitution and purposely dividing our nation. They not only disagree with us, but they also now want us to be silenced or even canceled. If the title of the book or subtitle offends them, great. I want people to read the book who are open to discussion, to the truth; people who will get something out of it, be informed and encouraged, and ultimately take action. I’d prefer those on the left to see the subtitle and move on. Over the years, I’ve had some negative reviews from lefties who you can tell never read the book and vented in a review about things having nothing to do with the content of the book.

  • You cite Revelation 3 in the book Introduction making the point that we are running out of time. What is the warning for today’s church?

(DF): I want to convey a sense of urgency the church doesn’t seem to have and we’re losing our freedoms and perhaps our country. The verse states: Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour…” Be ready, strengthen what remains!

  • After being reminded about the historic impact of Christianity in chapter 3, it seems astounding that some people still want to try eradicating God and the light of Christ from American culture. How do you explain this?

(DF): Pure evil manifesting in the natural realm. It’s the antichrist spirit of the age. These are times we need to talk straight and stop worrying about offending people. Jesus Christ flipped this world right-side up, his impact spreads through His followers today. But the forces of darkness hate the light, and any evidence of Christ, reminders, must be eradicated. Francis Schaeffer said we are locked in “a life and death conflict between the spiritual hosts of wickedness and those who name the name of Christ.”

  • You describe the battle for the heart and soul of America and point out the spiritual battle involved. What do you mean when you mention “forces of darkness, both human and demonic”?

(DF): There are demons and there are humans warring against our souls and manifesting evil works in our country and culture. Some are deceived while others are deceivers. If we understand the spiritual battle and warfare, then we can make sense of some of what’s happening. In 1 John 3, 8-10 states,

He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil;… By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God;

Jesus told the Pharisees they were of their father, the devil. So it’s not just a cliché that “the devil is in the details” when it comes to wicked agendas to cancel Christianity in America. Globalists and tyrants have been unleashed and protected.

  • What is the second biggest lie in America? (chapter 2)

(DF): The separation of church and state. Too many Americans and a large number of Christians think we should be silent and stay out of politics. Barna research shows a high number of pastors admit the Bible addresses every aspect of life and yet, only around 10% say they are willing to speak about social and controversial issues from the pulpit. I also touch on the awful Johnson Amendment used by the left since 1965 to bully pastors.

  • You write about big tech tyranny in chapter 11 and ironically, you’ve been shadow-banned on Facebook. They also rejected 6 ads for your new book. What can believers do about censorship?

(DF): This is something most people do think is dangerous in a free republic. First, refuse to be silent! People are starting to catch on to the controllers of information. When there is a one-party media and big tech conglomerate and conservatives are censored, one side –an entire worldview (biblical) is not allowed to be part of the debate any longer. We need to speak up and raise awareness, stay on certain platforms but more to other outlets that allow free speech.

When it comes to the media however, it is gone and today’s biased, liberal media activists are beyond redemption. They’ve sold their souls to the godless left. Though they need Christ, most have rejected him and now align themselves with communist policy that silences the opposition. Turn off most news sources you’ve relied on for decades, they can no longer be trusted. Find new sources of information. (mention 200 sources you can trust?)

  • Three of the chapters in Canceling Christianity were inspired by sermons you preached at church. What were they and can you briefly touch on the subject matter you covered?

(DF): Chapter 6 – It just takes a generation to fall away from God. Right after reading about how faithful Joshua’s generation was, we see (Judges 2:10) some of the saddest words in Scripture:

10 All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and another generation rose up after them who did not know the Lord, nor even the work which He had done for Israel.

(DF): Chapter 7 – “Lives that matter to God” – Black Lives Matter, Marxism, Progressivism vs. Christianity and the biblical worldview. No contest! But I try answering the question, ‘How Should Christians Respond to Injustice, BLM, Lawlessness?’ People are crying ‘racism’ but we are of one blood, one race, and the cross is the ultimate equalizer.

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”  Revelation 7:9-10

(DF):  The father of lies is deceiving many even within the church! You can be Christian or Marxist; you cannot be both. You can have biblical justice, or you can have social justice. Believers must not try to be on both sides.

Chapter 15 – Working for God, ready for battle, touching on Nehemiah 4We need to get back to fighting the good fight.

Enemies of God heard the Jewish people were rebuilding the walls around the city of Jerusalem under Nehemiah’s leadership; they were jealous and they were furious. The first thing enemies of God did was use the weapon of mocking. (2 Peter 3:3)

*Not much has changed today as far as the tactics of the enemy. If he can discourage Christians from doing things for the Lord, building up other Christians, sharing the gospel or impacting our culture and shining light in the darkness, he wins before we even get started. God allowed opposition to continue because His people drew closer to Him with a deeper trust than ever before.

We prayed to our God… and we set a guard against them day and night: (Nehemiah 4:9)

This decision sent a powerful message to the people, but also to their enemies! But check out how they prepared and kept working. There’s a huge lesson for today in Nehemiah 4:16-18 – Be battle ready!

So it was, from that time on, that half of my servants worked at construction, while the other half held the spears, the shields, the bows, and wore armor; and the leaders were behind all the house of Judah. Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon. Every one of the builders had his sword girded at his side as he built. And the one who sounded the trumpet was beside me.

This is a great example of a battle-ready people committed to do the work of God. Remember, the true church is on a battle ship, not a cruise ship!

  • Chapter 13 is called, “Kamala Harris Redefines Radical” – If you’re already being censored by big tech, do you think Amazon could ‘cancel’ your book if they find out about this chapter?

(DF):  That seems to be where we are heading so I’ve surrendered it to the Lord. If they take the book down as they have done to other Christian or conservative authors, I’ll be ready to work ten times harder to keep speaking and get the book out there and direct people to other outlets. It will be interesting to see what happens if Biden is pushed out and Harris becomes president.

  • From the start, there have always been agendas against Christianity and America. What responsibility does the church and its leaders have in our culture’s moral decline?

(DF):  Leaders lead. Early in the book I challenge and encourage pastors and ministry leaders to be bold in their stand for truth and unapologetic about preaching the whole counsel of God. They are the shepherds and overseers and teachers and they set the example for the flock. You’ve heard it said, ‘lead, follow, or get out of the way.’ Many don’t want to make waves or stick their necks out; so there are too many ill-equipped Christians today. But kudos to faithful, God-fearing patriot pastors who are unashamed of the gospel, and who expose and resist evil.

  • You write about policies, platforms & procedures and say too many Christians are deceived and distracted by the left, particularly when it came to supporting President Trump. Explain this phenomenon.

(DF): It’s the worldview war. Many people including so-called Christians went along with the lies, philosophies and talking points of the Democrat media. They apparently ignored policies that aligned with the Bible, the book they claim to believe. Worse, some of them endorsed and voted for the most godless and anti-biblical platform and administration in our history. This reveals much about the US

My personal view is millions of professing believers need to confess the sin of idolatry. Whenever you place something above God and put that thing – in this case a political party – above the Almighty, you need to revisit your worldview. Lots of people vote the same way their parents did and cannot defend it.

  • You say one of our problems in America is too many people in the church don’t study the Bible and want their best life now, being ignorant of self-denial and promised persecution. We’re seduced by the lies of the prosperity gospel and American Christianity. How much of this is spiritual warfare?

(DF):  I make it a point to reference the antichrist spirit of the age and the demonic progression of our culture and world. This did not manifest on it’s own. Paul warns in Ephesians 6 about Forces of darkness in the spiritual realm, but we are seeing this evil in the natural realm, and Satan uses human beings to advance his agenda; some knowingly, others are oblivious but still do the works of wickedness. So warfare and resisting the enemy are critical aspects of our biblical understanding.

  • It’s obvious to most of us the nation is divided, but you point out that the church is quite divided as well. Where do you think we are headed?

(DF):  I try warning that it is not a pretty picture. We are in the last days and may be seeing the disintegration of both country and church. Prophetic times, indeed. We may soon see the spiritual divide in America create two churches in a sense: the state-run church under the leftist government – and the true church of the Lord Jesus Christ; a visible remnant of believers and disciples staying true to His Word.

  • There have always been agendas against Christianity & America. What responsibility does the church have in our culture’s moral decline?

(DF): We dropped the ball, big time going back 75 years or more. From biblical instruction of Christian children, discipleship, evangelism, surrendering the entire education system, universities, the entertainment industry, media and the courts; and we opened church doors to false teachings, the cult of liberalism and social justice apostasy causing us to conform rather than transform culture for Christ.

Accept responsibility, clean house if necessary, and make way for the King! Regain our eternal perspective, count the cost, and discern the prophetic times we’re in, and get out of our churches and comfort zones, speaking truth while we still can!

  • Where can people get your book and find out more about your ministry?

(DF): Please visit my personal website, podcast site, or find me on various platforms – until they cancel me or take my accounts down: DavidFiorazo.com, StandUpfortheTruth.com, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Parler, CloutHub, Rumble, etc.

Any closing thoughts?

(DF): Jesus is Lord and Our Mighty God Cannot be Canceled! Throughout Scripture, people of God have faced tremendous odds, persecution, and constant opposition. But we have a great cloud of witnesses that have gone before us, as well as examples to encourage our faith, inspire us to action, and boost our boldness for Christ and His truth. May we be found faithful on that Day and may we be overcomers rather than being overwhelmed with all that is happening. His grace is sufficient and His love and truth eternal. Jesus is worthy of our praise and trust.
