After another horrific school shooting by another disturbed kid bent on evil, the gun debate returned to the headlines. But some of us wonder how things might have been if God, prayer, the Bible, and the Ten Commandments were top priority again, rather than having been expelled from government schools in America decades ago.
There is never a shortage of commentary and opinions immediately after a tragic shooting or act of terrorism. But typically front and center is the debate over gun laws and the 2nd Amendment. Agreed-upon solutions are hard to come by when wrestling over these issues.
Are we or are we not desperate enough to discuss any and every possible solution? If we sincerely want to do everything in our power to prevent further loss of life and protect our children, can we finally bring up the need for God and a moral structure that used to be the fabric of society?
Isn’t it time to allow the Ten Commandments to be displayed again in the very public schools our tax dollars are funding? Why not allow occasional reminders of Jesus Christ and His teachings on how to love our neighbor instead of bombarding kids with the leftist ABCs? Anything But Christ.
According to the Freedom from Religion Foundation, the ACLU, and other anti-Christian activists, our schools are better now than they were 50 years ago. Their motto is “Good without God.” You call what’s happening in today’s chaotic schools ‘good’? Please.
And they say those of us who believe the Bible are the ones living in a fantasy world. We now have kids today who place no value on human life due to the removal of God, due to Hollywood’s promotion of violent movies, TV shows, and video games, and to an abortion business that promotes the murder of the voiceless and most vulnerable.
Why do so few people point to the fact that atheists, activists, and radicals want a country without God, but when tragedy hits they ask mockingly, where is He and why doesn’t He care? You cannot have it both ways! You expelled the one true God from the classroom, courthouse, and culture, so you can either keep Him out invite Him back in.
Trying to make sense of a senseless act of evil, one of the best responses I’ve heard recently was from Wisconsin Congressman, Sean Duffy discussing the issue with Tucker Carlson. Check out how much ground her covers in less than one minute:
After a tragic-shooting, it’s always a head scratcher when those who don’t believe in God claim their thoughts and prayers go out to the victims. Most of us know there is only one living God capable of answering prayers so who are these folks praying to? And how much practical good does someone’s thoughts do?
It’s just lip service. The true God is not a genie in a bottle or a 9-1-1 call you only use during an emergency.
America’s founders declared we must be a moral and educated people, and most of them believed God’s Word to be the foundation of truth and a healthy society.
If young people could somehow, once again be taught in schools the Judeo-Christian principles that seemed to work for two-hundred years, maybe there would be less violence, less drugs, fewer pregnancies, fewer suicides, and fewer Nicholas Cruzes.
Can we have liberty without morality?
I have always appreciated the Adams family; no, not that Adams family.
In 1798, President John Adams wrote to the Massachusetts Militia:
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
I leave you with another quote, this by President John Quincy Adams:
“So great is my veneration for the Bible, that the earlier my children begin to read it the more confident will be my hopes that they will prove useful citizens to their country and respectable members of society.”
A good start would be to allow Jesus back in public schools.
